Mooi River & Nottingham

Mooi River and Nottingham Road introduce travellers to one of KwaZulu-Natal's most attractive rural landscapes. Rolling farmland, tree-lined roads, rivers, dams and cool highland weather give this area a distinctly pastoral character. Mooi River developed around the river and transport corridor that connects the Midlands with the Drakensberg. Today it remains an important gateway toward Kamberg, Giant's Castle and the Central Drakensberg. Nearby Nottingham Road has become one of the best-known villages on the Midlands Meander. Boutique accommodation, country restaurants, artisanal food producers, breweries, farm shops and creative businesses have transformed the area into a destination in its own right. Together, the two towns provide an ideal bridge between the sophisticated country experiences of the Midlands and the wilderness of the Drakensberg. Visitors can spend a morning exploring farm stalls and local producers before continuing toward mountain trails, San rock-art sites and highland reserves.
